senior Pastor - don Veazey
Pastor Don Veazey grew up in a Christian home in Amarillo, TX. He asked Christ to be his personal Saviour at the age of 15 while attending youth camp in Joplin, MO. Three years later he answered the call of God to preach. He earned his Bachelor of Pastoral Theology Degree from Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City, OK and graduated in 2001. Two weeks after graduation, he married his childhood sweetheart, Catherine. God blessed them with three daughters and one son. They also have 3 sons-in-law and 2 grandchildren.
Pastor Veazey has been a senior pastor since 2004. God recently called him to First Baptist Church of Calvert County in October of 2025. He is currently pursuing his Masters Degree in Biblical Studies, as well as producing a daily weekday podcast, “Anchored”, as a ministry of FBC. Pastor Veazey is also working with a publisher getting 2 discipleship books he has written in print.
He and his wife are enjoying Maryland and are so excited to see how God will use this church in the future. He and Catherine deeply love FBC and look forward to many, many years of serving the Lord together with the wonderful people of FBC!
Ministry intern - Jonathan Johnson
Jonathan was saved at the age of seven while attending Faith Baptist Church in Plainview, TX with his family. Jonathan answered the call to preach when he was 14. He was homeschooled, and during his high school years, he completed the Electrical Trades program of Canadian Valley Technology Center. After high school he enrolled at Heartland Baptist Bible College in OKC as a Pastoral Major, and is currently in the process of completing his bachelor degree.
He met his wife, Esther, at a youth conference in OKC when they were 17. They were married in September of 2021. God has blessed them with 2 children, Jesse and Lois.
Church / Pastoral secretary - Catherine Veazey
Catherine also grew up in a Christian home where the Gospel was presented daily. As a result, she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at the age of seven. Soon after her salvation, her father moved the family from south Texas to Amarillo, TX where she met her future husband at a Christian school in the third grade. After graduating from Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City with an Associates Degree in Church Secretarial, she married Pastor Veazey in May of 2001.
Catherine homeschooled their four children as well as several other children throughout the years. She has worked closely by her husband’s side throughout his pastoral ministry over the years, mostly serving as secretary to the pastor, as well as church secretary, Sunday school teacher, Ladies ministry organizer, church pianist, and led in hosting 12 Ladies retreats over the course of their ministry. She absolutely loves the people of First Baptist Church and is thrilled to be serving side-by-side with the great people of FBC!
