Our Staff

Ralph Nevin, Pastor

Our pastor, Ralph Nevin, is a native of Brandywine in southern Maryland. After accepting Christ as a senior in high school, he surrendered his life to full-time Christian service. He is a graduate of Bob Jones University. His ministry experience includes six years of teaching high school Bible at Arlington Baptist School in Baltimore; four years as an assistant pastor in Westminster, MD; twenty combined years of pasturing two churches in both PA and NY; and seven years as our pastor here at First Baptist Church.

Nathan Satchwill, Assistant to the Pastor

Nathan serves as the Youth and Music Pastor of First Baptist Church.  He and his wife, Cassie, moved to Calvert County from Indianapolis, IN.  They formerly spent four years working in an inner-city ministry throughout Indianapolis and surrounding communities.  They are parents of 1 child, Caleb, and are expecting their second very soon.

Trisha Guethlein, Church Secretary

Mrs. Trisha Guethlein serves as the Church Secretary and has been a member of FBC since 1997. She has been married to George Guethlein for 24 years and they have three children: George, Katarina and Aaron. She home schools their three children and participates in the FBC Homeschool Fellowship. She also serves as an AWANA leader, a substitute Sunday School teacher and a choir member.

George Guethlein

George Guethlein is a Deacon and has been a member of FBC since 1997. He is married to our Church Secretary, Trish Guethlein, and they have three children. He works for a Defense Contractor as a Systems Engineer. He has over 25 years of experience in the Information Technology field which aids him in his role as the leader of the Technology Ministry Team. He also serves as a Trustee and vows never to play Flag Football again (ask him why when you meet him). Past service ministry includes: Leading New Believers Discipleship classes; Substitute Sunday School teacher; Administrative and Organizational Coordinator for Foreign Mission Trips.

Heath Starkweather

Heath Starkweather is a Deacon and has served at FBC since 2003. He has a Graduate Degree in Theology from Independent Baptist Bible College, Clinton, Maryland and he has 30 years of ministry experience. He was born in Iowa, grew up in Nashville, TN, the Air Force brought him to Maryland in 1984 and has lived in Calvert County 12 years. Heath and his wife Charmaine have four boys, Christopher, Chase, Corey and Craig. He presently serves as Assistant Treasurer and Sunday School Superintendent. He works for the Calvert County Government as a Computer Systems Analyst/Project Manager.

Thomas Stuhl

Mr. Tom Stuhl serves as a Deacon at FBC. Tom has lived in Southern Maryland for over 15 years. He is married to his best friend Jenn and they have five children: Rocco, Cienna, Sarah, Hannah and Mary. Tom began serving Lord Jesus Christ in ministry immediately following his salvation in Oct 1992. He was called to serve at FBC in Aug 2003 and presently shares in the oversight of Middle School age classes and Missions.

Our Trustees

Wayne Anderson

Mr. Wayne Anderson serves as the Head Trustee. He started attending FBC in 1989 and joined the Trustee staff in 1991. He ensures the proper operation of the Church and care of the property. Wayne and his wife Pam have three children, Hannah, Faith, and Seth.

Scott Blankenship

Scott and his family joined the church in 2002. Scott is a native of southern Maryland being born in St. Mary's County. Scott and his wife Lee have three children, Shana, Kelly and Courtney and two grandchildren, Cameron and Kaylee. Scott and Lee currently serve as Sunday School Teachers for 5th & 6th Grade. He also enjoys teaching in the Patch Club. He is a trustee of the church where his carpentry skills are put to good use.
